Coming off a 2-2 friendly draw with Eintracht Frankfurt, you wouldn’t expect a big flurry of activity but the Philadelphia Union made the addition of Milan Iloski official today with the announcement of a permanent transfer and new contract for the striker who lit the league up in his short stint with San Diego FC before his loan ended last month. It’s a statement - a welcome one at that - from a thrifty Union front office to make a needed addition in the stretch run to the post-season.

A striker with 10 goals and an assist in 14 appearances for San Diego FC is heading to the Philadelphia Union on a permanent transfer.

The Union announced the signing of Milan Iloski on a permanent transfer from FC Nordsjælland on Tuesday. In order to do so, the Union had to acquire the number one position in the MLS Waiver Order which they did from CF Montreal in exchange for $100,000 in general allocation money and up to an additional $150,000 in conditional GAM.

The fee paid to FC Nordsjælland was not disclosed but it’s listed on Transfermarkt at around $1.15 million.

“Milan is a dynamic, instinctive goal scorer who thrives in attacking transition,” Philadelphia Union Sporting Director Ernst Tanner said in a news release. “His ability to convert goal chances is extraordinary and he has a willingness to defend. We look forward to integrating him into the team quickly.”

Iloski, 26, has signed a contract through 2027 with an option for 2028 and will join the active roster following receipt of his ITC.

The former UCLA striker from Escondido, California was on loan with San Diego FC but the loan was terminated on July 15.

Iloski played three seasons at UCLA, registering 23 goals and six assists in 46 appearances. He also spent time with Golden State Force and Ogden City SC early in his career before signing with Real Salt Lake as a Homegrown Player in 2020, making his debut on loan with Real Monarchs. In 2024, he spent time with Danish Superliga side FC Nordsjælland before returning stateside. Iloski is one of the three brothers who played at UCLA and professionally. Eric Iloski retired after playing for Las Vegas Lights and Brian Iloski played for Legia Warsaw, LA Galaxy II and Orange County SC.

In June, he made MLS history by scoring four goals in a 12-minute span against Vancouver Whitecaps FC, the fastest four-goal performance in league history. In 2022, he earned the USL Championship Golden Boot after leading the league with 22 goals in 31 games.
