+ Union II Stay Unbeaten

King Julian and Daniel Gazdag’s recent tear has placed them in some pretty rare company in terms of MLS duos this season. They’ve now scored in the same game 15 times in MLS play. Only Jozy Altidore and Sebastian Giovinco have matched that in league history. Hello Atlanta!

1. 🤩 Carranza and Gazdag In Elite MLS Duo Territory

It’s no surprise to Union fans just how great of a goal-scoring duo Julian Carranza and Daniel Gazdag are but their recent goals in the Nashville game has put the entire league on notice.

The next time the Union attackers both show up on the score sheet together they’ll set a new MLS record.

Teammates since Carranza’s arrival from Inter Miami in 2022, they now have combined for 76 goals and 42 assists in 162 league games wearing the Union. That’s a total of 118 goal contributions in 162 games.

Interestingly enough, neither scored a ton in MLS play when they weren’t teammates. Gazdag had just 4 goals in 23 appearances in 2021 for the Union and Carranza had 3 goals in 31 appearances across the 2020 and 2021 seasons for Inter Miami.

What’s also fascinating about the graphic MLS PR shared below is that the Carranza and Gazdag duo isn’t the only Union goal-scoring duo on it. Gazdag and Mikael Uhre are only four games behind with 11.

2. 🐍 Union II Stay Unbeaten with 2️⃣ Points vs OCB

Unbeaten streaks really are becoming infectious within the Philadelphia Union organization.

Philadelphia Union II made it four games unbeaten to start the season with a 1-1 draw at home against Orlando City B on Thursday afternoon that was topped off with a penalty shootout win for an extra point.

Sal Olivas scored his second goal of the season off an assist from Frankie Westfield in the 11th minute but the visitors in purple and white were able to level the score at 1-1 in the 30th minute on a Wilfredo Rivera equalizer.

Union II keeper Andrew Rick made three saves on the day for the hosts and the penalty shootout was a display for both sets of kickers with 13 straight makes before an Orlando miss sealed the extra point for the Boys in Blue.

Philadelphia Union II will travel to Fifth Third Bank Stadium to face Atlanta United FC 2 on Monday, April 15th (7:30 p.m. ET/ MLSNEXTPro.com).
